5 of the Best Review Request Templates

  3. Suggested visuals or buttons to include alongside the copy

1. NPS Review Template

NPS, aka the“Net Promoter Score,” is the gold standard in assessing customer experience. NPS surveys ask customers to rate your business, product, service, etc. from 0 to 10. Then they typically ask why they chose that rating.

NPS surveys are known for how well they measure customer loyalty. This is something a brand might want to know in order to determine the likelihood of gaining new and repeat business.

Think of it like taking the temperature of your organization. If you want to get a better projection of future cash-flow or the overall customer satisfaction, an NPS survey is the route for you.

Best for: Collecting general feedback and assessing customer satisfaction.

2. Google Review Template

The next best option for a general review request is to push folks towards Google reviews. If you don’t have a preferred, specific platform (Yelp, Trip Advisor, Zillow, etc.) you like to send people to, Google is the best default.

97% of people read reviews for local businesses on Google when they’re thinking about visiting or purchasing. Businesses with high ratings earn the trust of shoppers, point blank. However, businesses with a lot of ratings, even if they’re not all perfect, also instills confidence in your brand!

To push your customers to review on Google could be the difference-maker to prospective customers trying to decide between you and the other guy.

Best for: Getting the most visibility and building customer trust.

3. Product-Specific Review Template

Inviting your customers to leave reviews on specific products they’ve purchased from your site may seem a little tedious. However, brands like Fabletics have proved the efficacy that product-specific trust signals can have.

91% of 18-34 year olds trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations. So when each product on your site is accompanied by real testimony, it’s virtually the same as giving it a personal seal of approval from your customer’s closest confidantes.

Best for: Adding trust signals to your website that convert to sales.

If you wouldn’t mind taking two minutes to share your thoughts with other shoppers it would be a big help 😊.

4. Experience Review

If you offer services or excursions to your customers, you may want to collect testimony about their experience.

Depending on the type of product/experience the customer received, when you send the review request makes all the difference. 77% of shoppers are willing to leave a review if asked. So  when’s the best time to drop the question?

Best practice will tell you 7-30 days post purchase is the sweet spot for goods and services. This gives customers enough time to receive the product and give it a try.

When it comes to experiences (like a stay at a hotel, or ziplining adventure) it’s best to send the request immediately afterwards. You want to time it when the trip is freshest in their minds in order to get the most detailed, accurate response.

Best for: Collecting longer form reviews and testimony.

5. Personalized Review Template

In some instances you may know a customer so well that a generic review request won’t cut it. In that case, you’ll need to send something a little more personal.

If you can’t take the time to sit down and write them a personal note, know that the inclusion of even generic personalized fields (like name and location) can make a difference. A study by Instapage found that:

  • Personalized emails deliver six times higher transaction rates
  • 82% of marketers have reported an increase in open rates through email personalization
  • 77% of consumers have chosen, recommended, or paid more for a brand that provides a personalized service or experience

If you’re emailing out your survey requests, personalization can be the boost you need to cut through the noise of the inbox and land your note the coveted click.

Best for: Connecting with a customer you have a relationship with.
