Learn how Matykos Beauty uses SMS to encourage sales, improve their collections, and collect thousands of valuable customer reviews!
With over 1,000 customer reviews and an average satisfaction rating of 4.7 stars, it’s safe to say that Matykos beauty products are adored by customers.
Matykos Beauty is one of the millions of retailers whose products are available through Amazon. That means the entire Matykos team has to work hard to make sure her brand gets noticed amidst the noise.
Relevancy is the name of the game for any e-commerce retailer. On the internet, your product is one of thousands. And the average shopper doesn’t go past the first five listings on a search results page.
With more than 50% of all Amazon sales coming from third-party sellers, how do you rise above the competition and into the top results portion of customer’s searches?
For Matykos, texting was an essential tool to help draw a strong following for the brand that results in a constant stream of sales and new business.
The entire team is passionate about Matykos’ customer-first mentality. That’s why they decided to search for a text marketing solution within the first month of business. They wanted to find an intimate way to connect with their online customers.
“I believe that text messages are the most personal touch you can have with a customer,” notes a Matykos rep. “If you find the right time and message, you will find some impressive magic in this method.”
For Matykos Beauty, the “right” method was to reach out for customer reviews.
They created a keyword for one of their most popular products, a jade roller. They wanted to create a conversation about this ancient Chinese skincare tool that would help drive sales and keep them in touch with product feedback.
To start, they put their keyword on a product insert with a prompt for customers to text it in to share their thoughts. A keyword, if you’re unfamiliar, is a word or phrase that customers can text in to your number to subscribe to your messages
Once customers became contacts, they could send them a link to leave a review for their Amazon store through an autoresponse.
The more reviews Matykos began to receive, the higher the retailer would show up in search rankings for key terms like “Jade Roller” and “Gua Sha Set.” These reviews gave Matykos a shoe in the game against big brands with much bigger advertising budgets.
Today, the team continues to advertise their keyword in product inserts. They’ve also gone on to include them in advertisements on various social media platforms as well.
In addition to their famous Jade Roller, Matykos beauty sells four other beauty products and bundles on their site. Products that were carefully developed and selected by the team based largely on their interactions with customers.
Texting opened up a new way to communicate with their audience outside of just the initial sale.
“Most of our customers get to our funnel from a product survey, which means they already bought the product. But following the survey, we also find lots of other interesting facts about our products. Over time, this has helped our production to get better and better.”
As the Matykos team continues to grow their presence in the e-commerce beauty space, their customers will play a big role in the direction of the brand.
From helping fuel demand for new products to updates on the existing merchandise, texting has helped them build a relationship with their customers that extends beyond the transaction. A valuable trait in an industry without much face-to-face interaction.
