Collect Phone Numbers Through Mailchimp SMS Marketing Forms

To collect phone numbers in Mailchimp, all you have to do is add a phone number field to an existing form. Your contacts’ numbers will automatically import into SimpleTexting.

Double Opt-in

After someone enters their phone number, we’ll send them a text confirmation. Your contacts just need to reply Y or YES to confirm their subscription.

Confirmation Text

You can choose a standard confirmation text which will be sent along with your first campaign. Your contacts can reply HELP for help or STOP to cancel.

Web Form

Use MailChimp SMS marketing forms to collect mobile numbers and have them trigger SimpleTexting SMS autoresponders (automated SMS drip campaigns).

Connect SMS + Mailchimp in 4 Steps

Sync your contacts across both platforms without wasting time or losing data.

1. Create Your SimpleTexting Account

Sign up for a free trial of SimpleTexting with your name and email — no credit card required.

2. Log in to Mailchimp

Navigate to ‘Integrations’ and select ‘Mailchimp Sync’. You’ll be prompted to log in to your account.

3. Select Your Opt-in Method

Choose your preferred opt-in method. Email contacts are not automatically opted-in through Mailchimp, they must opt-in to texts.

4. Setup Your Sync

Choose the SimpleTexting list and Mailchimp audience that you’d like to sync. Then, map the contact fields and press ‘Sync’. Congrats! You’re all set.

Can Mailchimp send SMS messages?

Mailchimp can send text messages, but only if you have a Mailchimp Store or use Mailchimp Appointment Scheduling.

When SMS is enabled, customers need to opt in (give permission) to receive your texts. You need a third-party text messaging service that integrates with Mailchimp to send text messages for other uses (like SMS marketing campaigns, a welcome series for new contacts, or collecting customer reviews).

Can Mailchimp collect phone numbers?

Mailchimp can collect phone numbers when you use the forms feature and enable the phone number field.

Can you do SMS marketing on Mailchimp?

With a third-party SMS marketing platform, you can run campaigns, manage contacts, and track the results from one dashboard. We integrate directly with Mailchimp, so you can import your contacts directly over to our platform and start sending marketing messages.
